The team of 11- and 12-year-old players from the Barren County School District and Glasgow Independent Schools won their division of the U.S. World Series in 2008. The team competes in the AA division of the nationally organized United States Specialty Sports Association Baseball.
Jeff Brabant, head coach of the River Bats, leads his team with the motto that nine average kids playing as a team will always beat nine stars playing as individuals.
