About
Taiwan Brief is a practical guide to living in Taiwan — residence permits, banking, health insurance, tax and housing. It is written for people who actually have to do these things, not for tourists.
How articles are written
- Every requirement is sourced from the official page it comes from — immigration.gov.tw, nhi.gov.tw and other government sources are linked at the end of each article.
- Fees, thresholds and deadlines carry a reference date. Rules change; the date tells you how fresh the information is.
- Nothing here promises approval. Immigration and tax decisions belong to the reviewing office, and we describe the published criteria instead.
Verify before you act
Immigration and tax rules change without much notice. Treat every article as a starting point, and verify against the linked official source before making decisions.
